Longed to go for years. I was always restricted by the August opening as I was elsewhere. It is a remarkable house. The inner courtyard garden is quite extra ordinary. The cafe and our guide were truly disappointing. Splendid buildings where a little passion would not go amiss.
Apart from the lovely house and gardens, you can , if you have a log burner, purchase logs to burn from the estates office. We had used another local supplier previously but wanted to try this one as it came highly recommended. Left a message as rang out of office hours, and got a reply early the next morning, arranged our delivery for later that week and it arrived on time by a very helpful driver. An excellent quality and quantity of seasoned wood. This will be our only supplier from now on.
Fantastic place amazing grounds so happy places like this still exist, security was very good I got lost at one point and a very nice man called Tom helped me find my way, thank you Tom
Fascinating and beautiful house. Wonderful architecture from a range of periods. Quite a lot of pictures by famous names. The house had a lovely 'lived in' feel in parts. Guided tours only. There were two separate tours on the day we went but we were too late at 2.30pm to do both. I'm not sure whether detailed times were on the website but if they were I missed them. Gardens and grounds looked marvellous but again we did not have time for them. A great place to visit but arrive early.
Amazing and vast country mansion full of history and movie sets. Used in several movies and with stunning grounds and gardens. Cafe and shop on site too and ample parking spaces. Easy access for disabled people too. This is a great day out for along the family.
